The behavioral science major is a bachelor of arts degree designed to provide students with a broad-based education in the social sciences. This major introduces students to the disciplines of Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Students must select a focus area and electives within the Behavioral Science disciplines.

The behavioral science major is particularly applicable for students interested in teacher licensure at the elementary and secondary levels. Students interested in specific areas of work upon graduation should work closely with an advisor to build strengths in particular areas that will assist the student in pursuing jobs in government, business, the justice system, or community and social services.

Special Programs

The behavioral science major is available for completion off campus at Metro South. Courses are rotated in a way that allows a student to complete the entire list of courses off campus. It is important, however, that students meet with an advisor to plan their individual program.
