How to enroll in the Family Support in Social Work Certificate of Completion or Minor:

  1. Submit an application to Metropolitan State College, Admissions Office. This two-page application with directions for completion is in the Schedule of Classes for each semester.  A fee is required at the time of application (usually $25.00).  MSCD Admissions Office will notify you of your acceptance and provide a date after which you may register for classes.

  2. Submit the Enrollment Forms included in this packet, along with a Writing Sample and completed Recommendation Forms to the Social Work Program.  You must clearly indicate a career emphasis choice on this form.  This enables planning for enrollments and course offerings.  It will take about two weeks to receive an acceptance letter from the Social Work Program.

  3. Obtain a schedule of classes for the semester that you wish to enroll.  This contains information on course dates and times, tuition fees and method of payment.  You may register by telephone or over the internet.  Please register as early as possible, before classes reach full enrollment!

  4. Books for all courses are sold at the Auraria Book Center on campus.  The books are available approximately three weeks before the semester starts.  Buy your books as early as possible as the bookstore occasionally runs out of course textbooks.

  5. Once accepted into the Family Support in Social Work Certificate of Completion or Minor, you will be placed on a mailing list for special program updates.  A student file will be opened to allow monitoring of your successful completion of the program.  You have access to all information in your student file.

  6. If your plans change at any time, please let us know!

If you have any questions, would like an advising appointment or would like to request the Family Support in Social Work Certificate of Completion or Minor Enrollment Packet please call 303-556-3474.

Agency Support: The cost of completing this program as a full-time student is approximately $2500-$3000 (tuition and book costs).  For some students, completion of this program will enhance their ability to perform their current job duties.  Therefore, some agencies may provide a $2500-$3000 stipend (tuition and book costs) and/or a flexible time schedule upon request of the employee.  In turn, employers may request a guarantee of continued employment for a specific time period upon completion of the program.
