Potential Field Agencies!
The materials on this page should give you
all of the information you need to determine whether your agency is
interested in serving as a field placement (internship) site for
students in the Social Work Department at the Metropolitan State
College of Denver. The Field Placement (internship) is 16 hours per
week for the entire academic year, which begins the third week in
August and goes through the first week in May. Placements are
generally set up during the months of February through April of the
previous year. Students who graduate from our accredited
undergraduate program are eligible to apply for advanced standing in
MSW programs throughout the country. If accepted, they are able to
complete the MSW degree in one year. With this in mind, expectations
of our students in their placements should be similar to those for
students in the first year of masters level studies.
The section on
Field:
The Basic Structure will take you
through the structure and requirements of the placement for you and
the student. Then please review the Criteria
For Selection As A Field Agency. You
may want to review the Policy
Regarding Employment if you have
positions available or if you have employees who are approaching
their senior year in Social Work. All of
Metro's students focus on Generalist
Social Work Practice. Excellent Supervision which
integrates classroom learning with practice is an essential aspect
of a good Field Experience. The students are covered under MSCD's
Liaibility
Insurance only while officially
enrolled in classes. Please review the Mission,
Goals and Objectives of the college
and program, so we can make an informed decision as to whether our
programs are a good fit. I look forward to working with many of you
on my Field
Advisory Board, which has been
instrumental in structuring the field program.
When you have
completed reviewing the materials mentioned above, please complete the
Application
to be a Field Agency and submit it either on line or through the
mail. The
Affiliation
Agreement should be downloaded so
that appropriate signatures may be obtained, and then mailed to the
Social Work Department. I will contact you when I receive your
materials, so that we can finalize our partnership. I look forward
to working with you on behalf of our social work
students.
If there are any difficulties involved in
using this on line process, please feel free to contact me by phone
