The Social Work Department has given out over $1,204,000 in stipends to seniors majoring in social work with a child welfare emphasis. As long as funds continue to be available, seniors in good standing in the Social Work Department may apply for stipends in the amount ranging from $8,000 - $12,000. These funds are federal dollars given to the Colorado Department of Human Services. These State funds are then awarded to Metropolitan College of Denver, the Social Work Department (undergraduate) and the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work. The child welfare emphasis is an elective option. Social work majors must indicate their interest in the CWE on their Social Work Department application and may be asked to complete a brief application to the CWE. For information about the availability of student stipends, please contact the department office. Applications are available to students during January of their Junior year.
