Welcome to Metro State STEPS!
What is STEPS?
Strides Toward Encouraging Professions
in Science is a collaborative training program between Community
College of Aurora (CCA),
Community College of Denver (CCD),
and Metropolitan State College of Denver (MSCD).
STEPS is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health
Bridges to the Future Program.
What are the Goals of the STEPS Program?
- Increase the number of underrepresented minorities pursuing careers in Biomedical Reseach.
- Increase the number of minority students pursuing graduate degrees in the Life Sciences.
- Increase the number of minority students receiving Bachelor's degrees in the Life Sciences.
- Increase the number of minority students transferring from 2 year to 4 year colleges to major in the Life Sciences.
What can STEPS do for you?
- Help you explore the many opportunities that exist in Biomedical Resarch
- Outline the sequence of college courses and extracurricular activities that can prepare you for a successful career in Biomedical Reseach
- Procide tutors to help you in your college courses
- Provide access to a laptop computer & software
- Provide a Summer Enrichment Seminar to prepare you for your Internship
- Place you in a Paid internship (160 hours @ $1840.00) at the University of Colorado Health Science Center or National Jewish Medical and Research Center
- Pay for lab supplies, travel and registration to conferences.
