Upcoming shows

Brothers and Sisters
Aug. 20
Hi-Dive
9 p.m.
$7
21+

Brothers and Sisters, featuring members from ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, know how to make your knees bend. As opposed to their rock counterpart, Brothers and Sisters adopt a sweet country tone, trading in their electric guitars for such folk-country staples as lap steel guitar and fiddle. Playing with local greats Pee Pee and Johnny Knows Karate, this is sure to be a spectacular show.

The Codetalkers
Aug. 24
Quixote's True Blue
9 p.m.
$10
21+

Georgia jam band The Codetalkers are spreading their funky blues all across Colorado, playing six different venues in six nights. The band’s creator, Bobby Lee Rogers, took his vast knowledge of jazz and meshed it together with funk, folk, bluegrass and swinging country. With a run starting in Boulder on Aug. 21 and ending in Nederland on Aug. 26, the band will be busy. When they make their stop in Denver, stop in and check them out. Yo, Flaco!
Aug. 25
Herman's Hideaway
7 p.m.
21+

Look out for Yo, Flaco!, the up-and-coming Denver jazz hip-hop sensation signed under the same record label as The Roots. With three emcees and insanely talented musicians playing guitar, flaco horns, a saxophone, flute, trombone and a conch shell, it’s no surprise that a revolution in Denver’s hip-hop scene started with their first album Skeptamistic, or that their second album, Goin’ At It, brought them an American Music Award nomination.
