an accident involving the white Chevrolet Lumina in

Metro student. The driver of the All Pro Towing tow
truck said he tows wrecks at least four times a week
from the intersection. |

An unidentified female Metro student was sent
to the hospital after being involved in a car accident on Sept.
28 at the corner
of Colfax and Osage, just past the light-rail line leaving campus.
David
Goens, the driver of the white Chevrolet Lumina involved in the
accident, was driving east on Colfax and turned left onto
Osage. He then saw the Saturn and slammed into her driver’s
side door, which deployed the airbags on both vehicles.
“The light turned yellow, and as I went through the intersection
I saw her,” Goens said. “And I knew it was too late.”
“She had a biology textbook in the back of her car, and
she kept saying she needed to get to class,” Goens said. “But
she said she had a small pain on her side.”
Paramedics arrived
on the scene and examined both Goens and the student before taking
her to the Denver Health medical center
to be checked out.
Goens received minor burns on his left wrist
from the airbags.
“Thank God for seat belts,” he said.
The accident
slowed afternoon traffic around the light-rail line, but it was
soon cleaned up as towing crews arrived immediately
on the scene.
“There are four to five wrecks a week at this intersection,” said
Brian, the tow truck driver from All Pro Towing, “That’s
why I can get the cars out of here so quickly.” |
