InResponse: Letter to the Editor

A confession, a fantasy and a marketable branding of an anti-capitalist
I’m not a regular reader, but I do peek in from time to time to see what’s going on around campus. When I do read the paper, I’ll usually take a look at Zoë Williams’ column. In the days of her earlier, ditzier picture, Zoë was pretty easy to categorize. Seems like it’s more difficult to draw a superficial opinion of her since the new picture. Either that, or the writing has changed; I’m not sure which. In the interest of my sanity, could you please run the older picture from time to time?

I confess to a fantasy regarding Zoë. I recast her in the hamburger commercial. You know the one. A guy is slouched down on a couch, watching football on TV and eating a big, greasy burger. His girlfriend enters the scene, perches next to him on the sofa, and asks for a bite of the burger. One bite later, she’s slouched down next to him, and has hooked one hand in the belt on her jeans. She snorts and raises her other hand, index finger extended. She says, “Dude, pull my finger.” In view of the things Zoë has said in her column, none of this is likely to occur, but I have to wonder what would happen if you pulled Zoë’s finger.
