No. 26 Hawaii-Hilo swept the women 9-0 in their half of the competition. Katie Reitz and Orzalla Nabiyar came the closest to nabbing a win for Metro, but fell in a close battle with Hilo’s Akimi Kifune and Kari Rodriques losing 9-8.

The men won three matches against Hawaii-Hilo but fell 6-3 to the Vulcans. Metro’s Sascha Ruckelshausen defeated Daniel Pollock 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (6) in the first match of the day. In the doubles competition, preseason All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year Drew Machholz and partner Mark Milner won their set against Lars Melskens and Tomas Mikulasek 8-5. Metro’s David Scott and Sean Carlton won their doubles match 9-8 against Fuyuki Samejima and Aaron Tada.

The following day, the women’s team was swept by Hawaii-Pacific 9-0, while the men lost 5-1 with their only victory coming from Milner, who defeated Peter Ralau 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7).
