Justin Timberlake presents Madonna with the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s highest award March 10
at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.

Material girl inducted into rock’s HOF

Founding material girl Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame March 10 during a ceremony at New York’s legendary Waldorf-Astoria
Hotel. American icon John Mellencamp, influential Brit band the Dave Clark Five and the poetic singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen were among the other performers given rock ’n’ roll’s highest honor.

Also inducted into the hall were instrumental legends the Ventures (who
wrote the theme song to “Hawaii Five-O”) and producers/songwriters Gamble
& Huff, who penned songs such as “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.” Blues harmonica
virtuoso Little Walter was posthumously inducted, as well.

Modern hunk and chart-topper Justin Timberlake, who collaborated with
Madonna on her upcoming album, Hard Candy, presented the material girl
with the prestigious award. “She’s done it by working harder and being smarter
than everybody else,” Timberlake said.
