Cell phones needed!

I know people have cell phones around their houses that they aren't using anymore...so, please bring them by our office to help out the Colorado Anti-Violence Program. (See information below.) Feel free to pass this message on to your friends and any listservs that you on.

We'll be collecting them in a box in the GLBTSS office (Tivoli 213, Auraria Campus, Denver) until May 7th!

Thanks! GLBTSS Team

**************CoAVP Cell Phone Drive

The Colorado Anti-Violence Program provides emergency services and advocacy to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender victims of violence and crime throughout the state. Approximately 45% of calls to our tollfree 24-hour crisis line involve relationship violence, and last year we provided over 100 nights of emergency shelter for LGBT people who had no where else to go.

The Colorado Anti-Violence Program is seeking donations of old cellphones, which through the Shelter Alliance (www.shelteralliance.net), the CAVP can turn into funding for food, transportation, medicine, shelter, and other critical services for our clients. Please help by dropping off your unused or unneeded cellphones at GLBT Student Services by May 7th. Donations are tax-deductible and CoAVP can provide you with a receipt if you attach your contact information to the phone.

Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT)

Saturday, May 22, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Harmony salutes the Forties in its first-ever original musical. The 50-member chorus will present Letters Home: A Portrait of the 1940s. Written and directed by Littleton-based singer/songwriter Kelley Zinge, Letters Home was commissioned by Harmony and its artistic director, William Loper.

With gay marriage at the top of today's headlines, it's easy to forget another time when many Americans took great risks protecting their country while maintaining ties with loved ones of the same gender. The many facets of freedom in a time of heroism and change will be explored this spring as Harmony: a Colorado chorale examines the World War II years from a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender (GLBT) perspective.
