My parents knew a married couple that had AIDS when I was much younger, maybe 7 or 8 years old. I remember we visited them once for dinner. As we drove to their apartment, my parents told us about the sickness they had. They told us we couldn't get it from them and to act as though everything was fine.

When I was a wee lad, it was traditional to start each school year anew-new clothes, new shoes, new pencils and notebooks, new classes in a new grade. Each year was a fresh start, a new beginning, if you will. With the slate wiped clean, new possibilities were limitless. more >>>

Every student has suffered through classes that were not merely bad, but awful; and this is nearly always the professor's fault. It would be nice if every teacher at Metro was great, but that's just not the case. At Metro, there are a few teachers who are really excellent, many mediocre, and a few hideously bad. more >>>
Coffee is my lord and savior.
I know no experience more religious than having my first cup of the morning. I have seen the miracle of a triple shot of espresso while trying to remain in this world after three nights of paper writing. Coffee has complimented my conversations with professors, friends, enemies and loves. It has brought me closer to my fellow human beings. Not to mention that my inky and stimulating deity provides a high comparable to any drink I've ever had. Plus, it's legal and readily available. more >>>
