Re: Student Government
Student leaders, listen to our needs
When will governmental leaders get the fact that apathy stems from feeling a serious detachment from representatives?
To some degree, government has always been a mystical authoritative force, but politics are a constant party of daily living. So, why is it that our politicians-those who are supposed to be our voice-transformed into nothing more than posters of unrealistic propaganda?
We want intelligent representatives who speak on behalf of their student body. Get back to the basics and meet your delegation. We have had enough and our apathy is proof!
Rather than slam your opponent, why don't you pay attention to the students and ask what they want? Is it merely that you have forgotten that it is, after all, our campus?
While trying to get along with the new president of the campus is certainly helpful, there is a whole student body that has been completely ignored.
The irony is that students are a rather talkative bunch. For some reason, however, we are trained not to talk to our representatives. Now I turn the guilty finger to us, the students.
Have we truly become so lazy that we are willing to give up our rights? Or did we just stop caring that people are using us as puppets? It is time to demand rather than whine and it is time to act, or accept that you are not willing to be a participant in your life! Wake up Auraria!
