Jordan appointed to education council
Governor Bill Owens has appointed Metro President Stephen Jordan to the Colorado Education Alignment Council.
Created on Oct. 4, the education council exists to examine state high school graduation requirements and review the preparatory accomplishments of high schools and colleges to determine whether or not students have the basic skills employers will expect them to have.
The education council consists of 30 business, education and legislative leaders from across Colorado.
The council hopes to establish standards as to what Colorado high school graduates should have learned in preparation for college or the work force, review the current standards to determine whether they match these expectations and review admissions guidelines for colleges to find out if they match with high school graduation expectations.
