METRO MINUTES
Metro enrollment second among Colorado schools
This fall, Metro's record-setting head count of 21,109 vaulted the college into the state's number-two slot as having the second-largest undergraduate enrollment, behind the University of Colorado-Boulder. Metro outstripped Colorado State University's fall 2005 undergraduate enrollment of 20,720.
Metro's diversity number grew precipitously as well, from 4,922 students of color in Fall of 2004 to 5,094 in Fall of 2005-an increase of 3.5 percent. Students of color now make up 24 percent of the college's total student population.
Committee whittles Provost search to 18
The search committee for Metro's provost/vice president for academic affairs position has whittled down the number of qualified applicant from 104 to 18, with additional applications still being received and screened.
The committee met for six hours last Wednesday. Prior to the meeting, committee members eliminated 32 applications for lacking the requisite qualifications. They then screened the remaining 72 applications against both the required and the preferred position qualifications and voted to determine the 18 most-qualified applicants. Those 18 now will go through reference checks.
Policy on college functions bans alcohol use on campus
Both the vice presidents and full cabinets have approved some changes in Metro's official functions policy.
Initiated by Metro President Stephen Jordan, the most notable change calls for pre-approval of all official functions by the appropriate college executive-dean, vice president or president. Therefore, an official function form must be in place prior to the event and must include the signature of the dean or VP.
The revised policy on alcoholic beverages states that the college does not authorize payment for alcoholic beverages.
