Volleyball blasts foes
Back on their home turf after a pair of road wins, the Metro women's volleyball team didn't need to adjust anything.
The Roadrunners swept both Western State College and Mesa State College of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference West Division 3-0.
After the successful weekend, Metro improved to 14-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play, and moved into second place in the RMAC East Division.

The Roadrunners have won 10 of their last 11 matches against RMAC opponents. Strong play has helped the Roadrunners reach second place in the East Division behind the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
The 'Runners defeated Western State on Friday, Oct. 14, in the Auraria Event Center by scores of 30-22, 31-29, and 32-30.
Metro came out ready to win, and with an eight-point run, secured itself with the victory in game one.
"We have to work on unforced errors, six of their first 10 points were off our mistakes," head coach Debbie Hendricks said.
With the start of the second game, the Mountaineers were not going to lose without a fight.
The heavy competition carried into the third game as well.
Metro came out with the victory in the end and prepared for a tougher challenge against Mesa State.
Sheena McLaughlin had a match-high of 17 kills, followed by Stefanie Allison, who had 15, and Julie Green, who had 10.
Twenty-four hours after the victory over Western State, the Roadrunners took on the Mavericks of Mesa State.
McLaughlin was in the double digits again with 14 kills, which helped lead the Roadrunners to another victory.
The Runners had a six-point lead over Mesa to tie down their first win, followed by a two-point win of 32-30 in the second game, and a 30-24-point lead in the third game.
"We have a tendency to not finish and the second game was a good example of us not taking care of business," Hendricks said. "I think that we did a better job of that in the third game."
The Metro women have won 10 of their last 11 conference games going into the final weeks of the regular season.
The 'Runners are now second to the undefeated University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers in the RMAC East Division.
The team travels to Golden on Friday, Oct. 21, for an RMAC match against Colorado School of Mines.
They take on Regis University on Saturday, Oct. 22, before returning home to face the Lopers on Friday, Oct. 28.
