Luis Miguel is a Puerto Rican-born, Mexican-raised, musica icon affectionately known to fans as "el sol de Mexico" (the sun of Mexico). Miguel's passion and musical versatility were enthusiastically embraced by the audience at his Oct. 2 at the Broomfield Events Center.
As the venue lights dimmed, Miguel (who greeted the audience in Spanish and English) received a thunderous welcome from the capacity crowd. Miguel's band, comprised of arguably the best crossover musicians playing contemporary Hispanic and Latino flare, ignited the crowd from the onset.
Beginning with "Tu Imaginacion," concert-goers were on their feet, dancing with excitement and emotion. The wild passion of "Suave" and "Sera Que No Me Amas" continued the upbeat tempo, until Miguel slowed the pace by offering up sweet ballads such as "Besame Mucho," "No Se Tu" and others, which have built his surging popularity, both in Mexico and the United States.
Launching into a mariachi medley with songs from his Bolero albums, Miguel brought the audience full circle, and the evening ended with pleas from the audience for "otra, otra, otra" ("one more song"). Black t-shirts and colorful beach balls with his band's logo were quickly distributed as Miguel and his entourage headed out the back door, no doubt in a hurry to meet their next concert commitment in El Paso, Texas.
