Celebrating Successes - Preparing Great Teachers for Urban Schools

The Teacher Quality Enhancement (UTP) held a reception to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and congratulate the induction of 15 new students into the program. Competition Brings Fun to Chemistry Day 2007

Auraria Campus was buzzing as usual on Friday, April 13, but when entering the science building, anyone could tell that something special was happening. High school students from throughout metro Denver filled the hallways and classrooms for the annual Chemistry Day. Since 1991, high school students have competed in various areas. Beach Court Elementary School Visit-Muy Bien

As Metropolitan State College of Denver (Metro State) professors enter Beach Court Elementary in North Denver, kids quickly cross the street to get to the playground. The laughter from the playground carries through the hallways when they return from outside. Signs throughout the school are in English and Spanish-a necessary function for a school with a 94 percent Latino population and 60 percent English Language Learners. Go to Article (.pdf) >

Teacher Quality Enhancement (UTP) is a bold and innovative approach to support the professional development and success of teachers in the Denver Public Schools district. In 2004, Metropolitan State College of Denver (Metro State), The Fund for Colorado's Future and Denver Public Schools (DPS) received one of 20 UTP grants from the Department of Education.
