Recruitment - UTP is Growing!
The UTP program began preparing urban teachers during the Fall 2005 semester by recruiting a total of 16 students including four English, two math and nine social studies students. Since that time, the program has experienced incredible growth through its extensive recruiting efforts.
Today, there are over 250 students in the four major areas of math, science, English and social studies. And, UTP continues to grow.
How Many Scholarships Awarded?
UTP provides scholarships to qualifying students during their field placement and student teaching coursework. There have been a total of 113 scholarships awarded amounting to $98,205 since the Spring 2006 semester.
Denver Public Schools Hires UTP Students
The Denver Public School system has hired 25 students from the UTP program to teach in their schools since the Fall of 2006. And, DPS is looking to hire more especially in the high-needs areas of math and science.
