Major in Women's Studies
The Women's Studies Major is an interdisciplinary course of study utilizing faculty expertise from many different departments. The student constructs an individualized degree with the help of a women's studies advisor and an advisor from the Center for Individualized Learning. A women's studies major can be combined with courses in management, psychology, history, English, education, law, sociology, human services, business, social work, advertising, finance, marketing, or any other field appropriate to the student's interest.
Total credit hours needed for the major is 40. Of those, 21 must be upper division. The following courses are strongly recommended:

WMS 1650 ~ Women in U. S. History
WMS 2100 ~ Women of Color
WMS 3510 ~ Feminist Theory & Practices I*
WMS 4750 ~ Feminist Theory & Practices II: Senior Seminar*
15 credits total

In addition to these required classes, the student must take 25 credit hours of electives, 12 hours of which should be upper division. It is also strongly recommended that the student complete an internship in a corporate, private non-profit or government agency that serves women.
